Bestival Music Festival Promotes the Independent Music Scene

Christopher Marc Melton serves as the portfolio manager for Callegro Investments in Austin, Texas, and leads the firm’s strategic direction and management activities for acquisitions and dispositions. Outside his responsibilities to the firm, Christopher Marc Melton is cofounder and manager of Bestival, a musical festival in the United Kingdom.

A winner of numerous UK Festival Awards, Bestival is a four-day musical festival that acts as a vehicle of change and innovation for the independent festival scene. It takes place annually in the lush county park of Robin Hill and features several themed areas that include the Ambient Forest, the Spaceport, and the Magic Meadow. Each area offers its own unique selection of events and entertainment, in addition to acting as the host area for Bestival’s major attractions. For instance, the Ambient Forest houses the amphitheater, and the Magic Meadow serves as the site for the Sunday Night Spectacular, a singalong fireworks display with a futuristic aesthetic.

Bestival allows participants to stay overnight throughout the duration of the festival at multiple onsite camping grounds. Although accommodations in the main campsite is included in the purchase of a regular ticket, participants may also take advantage of additional camping options, including the Wild Copse, Hospitality, Pitch Village, and the Campervan and Caravan/Trailer Tent areas. Furthermore, the Boutique Campsite provides a variety of luxurious comforts and meal options.

The 2016 Bestival will take place September 8 through September 11. The music usually begins around 11 a.m. and continues through the night and early morning until about 5 a.m. each day.
